Session Topic: Programme-led 3 Year Raised & Earned Income Streams

I started life in commercial theatre selling ice creams on Les Miserables where I quickly got a buzz for ancillary income – I started working closely on merchandise, VIP tours and general retail. I spent 3 years working operational roles before joining the Ambassador Theatre Group to manage all one off hires of their West End Venues. This was a relatively small income stream for ATG when I joined but grew to a full time department by the time I moved on, closely linked to the mainstream programming arm. I then went on to kickstart the hires business at the Lyric Hammersmith after the completion of a multi-million pound capital project which opened up a whole new wing of spaces for hire.

I now work for Battersea Arts Centre, joining shortly after the Grand Hall reopened, managing all income generating activities. This covers events, catering, bars, commercial programming and our co-working space, The Scratch Hub. My proudest moment was working closely with the NHS to launch a community vaccination centre at BAC during Covid.
