Whilst working as a freelance dance teacher she had the idea to create an affordable alternative to the traditional stage school franchises and one that had a real focus on community and pastoral care. Working with her husband, Rakesh Boury, they had a vision to create a social enterprise with the mission to address the lack of diversity and access to professional training for Young People. In 2017 The Boury Academy CIC was born,

She has been teaching students for more than fifteen years and loves to see how they develop their confidence and skills as they grow. She is also an Acting Agent, representing Adults and Young Performers. Those that Caroline has taught and/or represented have worked professionally in both the West End and on screen with one even being a BAFTA winner. The Boury Academy is the leading Performing Arts School based in Lambeth with a mission to increase access to professional performing arts, increase diversity in the arts due to that access and to build confidence, creativity, community cohesion and provide a safe place to be. We have a professional performing arts agency for our students and they are trailblazing in the industry, performing across the west end stage, commercials and film/television. Their success directly achieves our mission of diversifying the industry and proves that access to affordable training at a young age really is absolutely key.

We support our children and young people through:
 – Affordable, fully professional  standard training courses/workshops in the performing arts for ages 4-21
 – Wrap around support (including mentoring, coaching, wellbeing training, accessing funding, supporting parents) to tackle social inequalities and other societal barriers to increase access
 – A Professional Acting Agency (The Boury Agency) to support students to overcome the many barriers they face accessing professional employment opportunities in the sector. Many of them have now worked professionally across the West End, Commercials, Television and Film.

Since 2017 we have welcomed over 1,500 students, giving them the chance to experience Professional training in Dance, Drama, Singing, Music Production and Musical Theatre, working with over 3,500 children each year through our local schools partnership and through our annual Lambeth Schools Flashmob. We have produced 7 full scale Musicals, ‘Short Films’ and various variety performances, including producing and performing at ‘The West End Gala’ at The Fairfield Halls in Croydon for the Mayor’s Charities. Many of our students have remained with us since we first opened and we recently helped two gain funded places at Full Time Drama School and another access a drama course at university. We are also project lead for Lambeth Councils ELEVATE Project giving every child in the borough access to the arts, working with over 14 Lambeth Schools and leading on cross-community events.
